Breakaway

“Breakaway” is a metaphor that refers to a safety halter that is used on horses that are going to be turned out or left unattended over a period of time. This is done so that if the halter were to become caught, with enough force, the halter will break and allow the horse to run free. In the same way, individuals in the “Breakaway” program will learn and practice skills so that when old halters (habits & destructive behaviors) start to entangle, participants will have the skills necessary to break free.

Destructive behaviors may look like a number of different things.  A destructive behavior is defined as any behavior or belief that inhibits or harms a person's well-being, health, relationships, work, and daily routine.  Just as the behavior will differ between persons, so will the severity.  To the right is a list of some destructive behaviors and beliefs that can be worked through in a session, but the list is endless.  We encourage you to contact us personally to see if the Breakaway Program is right for you.

In addition to those listed on the pervious page: skipping school, cheating, bullying, self-harm, eating disorders, Addicted to a substance (may or may not be illegal), miscommunication, over sleeping, anxiety, depression, mental illness symptoms, jealousy, lust, pornography, commitment issues, work ethic, laziness, stealing, lying, dealing with change, death, pain, forgiveness, abuse, loss, budgeting, listening, and more...

The Breakaway program is also suited for those dealing with behaviors and symptoms related to autism.  This program can aid those with autistic symptoms and help them to recognize and find alternative for self-stimulation, recognizing body language, grounding and living "in the moment," following directions, following multiple step directions, seeing a larger picture, and more.  We have seen power results when our horses get to touch the lives of those who live with autism.
